Other networking websites offer a permanent free membership option, why don’t you?

As a brand new site, InMyField is currently building its member database. To build the database as quickly as possible we are currently offering free memberships in each of our 589 specific fields because we understand that the usefulness of InMyField is directly proportional to the size of the membership database.

To help build the InMyField database, when a new member joins they are sent our e-flyer which they can then forward to their colleagues to let them know about InMyField. As a new website we are working hard to increase awareness of InMyField, but the simple act of telling colleagues about the website is a powerful tool that can make the database grow exponentially, greatly increasing it’s usefulness for our members.

Once the database has grown to a sufficient size will will introduce a small fee of £20 for an annual membership. This is to continue to promote the growth of InMyField and allow us to cover the running costs and continued advertising of InMyField. We feel this represents excellent value for money for all the features and information provided on the site.

No. Once you have registered as a member you will not have to pay extra for any of our services.

Are there different levels of membership?

No, we believe our site should be simple, so we have just one level of membership and one level of access.

Our payments are processed by Paypal, an internationally recognised online payment handler.

We would hope that you would not want to end your membership of InMyField. Each year you will receive an email to let you know your membership is coming up for renewal, simply do not re-subscribe. If you wish your details to be removed immediately please send us an email and we will delete your account.

Such free membership offers will typically be restricted in some way; for example you can search the database but cannot contact people, or can only see an abbreviated profile, or are limited to how many times you can search. The essence of InMyField is the unlimited ability to find and communicate with fellow members, and we believe this should not be offered as an expensive extra but as a staple feature for all members. We also feel that only allowing access to registered members helps with security - your details, and posts such as funding opportunity or forum discussions - can only be seen and acted on by InMyField members.
