When you join InMyField you will create your own user profile. This allows you to promote yourself on the website by highlighting your personal areas of knowledge and experience. This can be done by entering your publications, conference presentations, qualifications and your current employment. You can also use keywords/phrases to highlight specific areas of specialised expertise.

Basic information is placed on your profile when you join, but we recommend all members take some time to complete all of the areas to get the most from the website. You can easily update or change your profile by selecting 'edit profile' from the members options.

You can use your profile to find other members with similar profiles to your own with our 'find similar' function. You will also be automatically informed when new members join with a similar profile to your own, when new funding opportunities are listed in your field, and when new forum topics in your field are posted. This information is displayed on your personal account page to keep you fully up to date with all new additions in your field.

Another useful feature of the member profiles is the My Library section. Here you can upload media to be displayed on your profile. This could include Word document lecture notes, powerpoint presentation slides, or even embedded YouTube videos. Should a member wish to view any of these files from your profile they simply click to play the video, or access the file. At the end of a conference presentation, rather than spending time with memory sticks or printing copies, why not refer your audience to your InMyField profile to access your presentation notes?
